Myagdi District is a part of Gandaki Pradesh with Beni as its district headquarter. It lies in Dhaulagiri zone which is one of the most beautiful places in Nepal. Places to visit in Myagdi
Poon hill is located at an elevation of 3210 meters in Ghorepani village 2874 meters in Myagdi district and is also known as Annapurna Sunrise trekking or Annapurna Panorama trekking. It is one of the most popular and relatively easy treks that meander through the beautiful villages of Annapurna region.
The Poonhill trek is for anyone who is short on time and wants to experience the Himalayas up close or who isn’t quite confident enough to trek over a week up to 20days. This trek gives the taste of what trekking is like and also builds the confidence and motivation to want to come back and try a tougher trek like Annapurna Base Camp Circuit and Everest Base Camp. It is one of the best places to have the sunrise view. The main purpose of reaching the top of Poonhill is to have a glimpse of and capture the sunrise view of Mt. Annapurna.
Tatopani is a village development committee in this district. Bhurung tatopani is situated in the northern belt of Myagdi district where number of domestic and foreign tourists has increased for the hot spring bath. The trekkers along the Annapurna trekking route, the pilgrims and tourists visiting to Mustang district also visits here for the hot spring bath. A large number of people suffering from rheumatoid arthritis and gastritis also takes bath in the hot spring hoping to get their diseases cured.
Galeshwor mandir is a very famous temple of God Shiva which is situated about 10 to 15 minutes travel from Beni Bazaar in Myagdi district. Lots of pilgrims from the country as well as from abroad practicing Hindu religion visit this temple every year. Especially in the month of Mangshir lots of pilgrims come to celebrate Baikuntha Mela.
Ghorepani is one of the biggest villages in the Annapurna mountains in Myagdi which is also the most popular village for trekking in Nepal. It is situated at an approximate altitude of 2760m. Ghorepani offers the spectacular mountain scenery along with charming villages inhabited particularly by the Pun, Gurungs and Magars people. It has the dense rhododendron forests full of birds and deep sub-tropical valleys set below the Annapurna with the picturesque peak of Machhapuchhre.
